Winner of the NWN Awards 2018

We were thrilled when we were shortlisted in this year’s Best in Business Awards organised by the  Newbury Weekly News. In a new category, Best Regional Event, the Club put forward our Fireworks event which has been held every year at Newbury Racecourse for over 35 years. The process involved an in-depth interview where questions were asked about planning, financial objectives, donations made from proceeds and wider community involvement.

At the awards dinner on Friday 2^nd November, Newbury Lions Annual Fireworks spectacular was named as the Best Regional Event of 2018, against some strong opposition. The judges were impressed with the drive and passion of our members who, despite falling membership, are determined to keep the event going for the benefit of the local community.
