Winner of the NWN Awards 2018
We were thrilled when we were shortlisted in this year’s Best in Business Awards organised by the Newbury Weekly News. In a new category, Best Regional Event, the Club put forward our Fireworks event which has been held every year at Newbury Racecourse for over 35 years. The process involved an in-depth interview where questions were asked about planning, financial objectives, donations made from proceeds and wider community involvement.
At the awards dinner on Friday 2nd November, Newbury Lions Annual Fireworks spectacular was named as the Best Regional Event of 2018, against some strong opposition. The judges were impressed with the drive and passion of our members who, despite falling membership, are determined to keep the event going for the benefit of the local community.

Speen Fete June 2025 Cancelled Due to Weather
06/06/2025 After taking advice, it is with a heavy heart we are cancelling tomorrow's fete on 7th June. The threat of torrential thundery rain with strong gusts of wind makes it a high safety risk for those involved with running the event and stalls and also the safety of the public attending.Lion Margot Payne presided over her first meeting and one of her first duties was to present a cheque to West Berkshire Homeless charity.
